About
CACO – Association of Craftsmen of the Municipality of Odemira – promotes the arts and crafts, contributing to the dignification of artisans and craft activities.
The main objective of the project is to attract new visitors to the municipality of Odemira and introduce sustainability and innovation in traditional arts and crafts. The project develops creative activities for the production and/or creation of products in the Weaving, Sewing, Jewelery, Pottery and Carpentry workshops of the Arts and Crafts Center.

[gallery link="file" ids="1744,1763,1764"] In the village of Odemira you will have the opportunity to know the work done in this region by more than 30 members of CACO - Local Artisans Association through the visit to the store, integrated in the Arts and Crafts Center. Helena, a local artisan, will present her weaving atelier and the "path" to the 16th Century through the canvas/fabric used by painters such as El Greco and Tiziano, in the performance of their works. It will be an integral part of a "Human Loom" where the secrets and curiosities of the fabrics will be revealed to you. A visit to a small and unique artisan chocolate factory will take you to the places where cocoa originates. You'll be able to skirt the Mira River through its wooden walkway, collect your basket of local food products and taste them in the garden of Fonte-Férria. PROGRAM INCLUDED: . [gallery link="file" ids="1744,1741,1742"] On the edge of the village of Vale Ferro, on a hilltop, you will find two artists who, thirty years ago, began to make this acres of barren farmland into a green paradise. In this inspiring place, in the midst of nature, you will learn something about how an iron sculpture and how a piece of jewelry is created. In a 45-minute workshop, you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with and experiment with basic techniques of jewelery design, such as sawing, filing, hammering and soldering. We visit the studio for art and sculpture and the artist gives us insights into the mode of production of an iron sculpture. We visit the sculpture exhibition in the garden and the jewelry exhibition in the studio. There is a refreshing drink and a herbal tea sample. Afterwards we go to visit the neighbor, a naturopath. He shows us his herb garden on his typical Portuguese Monte and tells stories and anecdotes about the effects of his herbs. Finally, we are fortified in a restaurant in the small village of Vale Ferro with a typical Alentejan lunch, also for vegetarians. JOIN US!! PROGRAM INCLUDED: .
