About

The Municipality of Beja is a local authority. The county of Beja is located at the heart of the wide plain of Alentejo (south of Portugal) and extends over an area of 1146 km2. Known during the Roman Empire as Pax Julia, Beja stately rises over the Alentejo plain. There are many reasons to visit and stay in Beja, taking the time to enjoy the famous hospitality of its people: heritage, natural beauty, tradition, gastronomy, history, culture… The flavours and the talents of its people are the main ingredients of Beja’s Creative Tourism programme.

BEJA Experience – authentic people, unique experiences – is a Creative Tourism Programme, a unique opportunity to experience local culture in its most traditional manifestations for Beja and the Lower Alentejo region – the arts and crafts, the traditional singing, the traditional cooking, the traditional tales and breadmaking methods – through creative interactive activities full of learning opportunities.

Come learn with us and in the end, bon appetite!   Part of the "Patrimónios do Sul" fair, a fair that promotes the identity of the southern territory of Portugal in economic, cultural and touristic terms, the Beja Experience stand will give you a close up view of the arts and crafts, singing and gastronomic traditions from Beja, through participatory, creative and full learning activities.   Participate!!
