Online Workshop: Fig Star – creative experience

The Fig from the Mediterranean is highly energetic and rich in sugar. After Sun-dried, this fruit doesn’t lose its properties. Filled with almonds and roasted in the oven, this delicacy is traditional from the Algarve.
In this online workshop we will prepare a dried Fig Star from the Algarve.
The workshop starts with the presentation of our partner Ana Figueiras and an explanation of the ingredients to be used and all the preparation that will take place.
Afterwards we will get to work and prepare the ingredients to make the Fig Stars.
We will, then, taste the Stars in the end :-)

POST-CONFERENCE ACTIVITY
Since 2015, the Municipality of Loulé has been working on creative tourism, developing the project "Loulé Criativo", with his headquarters in 'Palácio Gama Lobo', Loulé. This project focuses on enhancing the identity of the territory through creativity and innovation. It promotes the revitalization of cultural heritage, traditional arts, crafts and design by developing an annual program that promotes several activities, experiences, exhibitions, creative residences, workshops and training.
The project 'Loulé Criativo' includes several elements such as Creative Tourism, Loulé Design Lab and the Rede de Oficinas [Network of Crafts] (The House of “Empreita”, Pottery atelier, Coppersmith atelier, Cordophones atelier and Watchmaker atelier).
With this activity you will be able to learn a little more about this initiative, as well as the dynamics of the city of Loulé, its culture, traditions and customs.
*Transportation is included.

9:30- Departure from Faro
Location: Penha Campus, University of Algarve
10:00- Beginning of the visit to the 'Palácio Gama Lobo' (headquarters of Loulé Criativo)

11:30 – Visit to the city (historic center)

Loulé has been for a long time a land of weavers, women who are dedicated to weave Palm, a native plant of the Iberian Peninsula. The palm meshed is a technique to make coasters or other objects used to beautify some creations of the weavers.
Program of this workshop:
-How to prepare the Palm leaf
-How to rip the Palm
-Working on the open mesh weaving technique
-How to do a "baracinha" (Plam wire braided)
-How to make a palm coaster
Expected dates of completion of the activity during September: 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26.
