Palm, cane and other aquatic plants has been exploited ever since by shepherds, farmers, builders, craftsmen and children, to make objects to work, leisure and entertain. With these native plants were created ancestral techiques such as “empreita” and amazing objects that are an important part of the rich cultural heritage of the region. Experience the place and this unique culture, in a hands on workshop, and also choose and create your own object to take and remember.   Note: this activity is available until December 2019 - upon previous reservation (48h).  

We'll walk through the Fonte da Benémola to let ourselves be dazzled by the beauty of this place surrounded by fountains and waterfalls. It is a protected area where more than 300 different species of plants inhabit, some of them unique... Along the walk we pass through cane fields that flourish along the waterways. Here we will learn the art of working the cane and make your own walking stick or a useful cane pipe box.   Come and be amazed with us!!   Note: this activity is available until December 2019 - upon previous reservation (48h).
